Re: Castanets in my V6?

I believe your model is supercharged. 100 quid says it's the coupling spring against the main drive shaft. Quite common, relatively inexpensive fix if you DIY. Solid couplers are available direct from Eaton US or eBay. If you get a chance pop the bonnet first then take your phone to the front and m...

Re: Castanets in my V6?

Plymothian, any luck with this? Mines developed a very similar noise over winter, when cold and at idle! I'm afraid not, and it's making the noise more frequently now it's cold and wet. I recently had a service at Sytner Northampton instead of my nearest main dealer (Milton Keynes) and I mentioned ...

Re: Main dealer service cost variation

My nearest main dealer is Lancaster Jaguar in Milton Keynes. They wanted to charge me over £900 for the 4-year service (they even said that was discounted :o ). I took it to Sytner in Northampton and paid £614 inc VAT. I have to give Sytner credit for the superb customer service too. It was my first...

Re: Super charger rattle repair.

Hi Gareth,

Did you ever get this diagnosed at all?

I have a similar issue. Can you tell me if the sound you heard sounds like this?

Re: Castanets in my V6?

Thanks, Tel.

I'll try that if my local dealer doesn't replicate it this morning - I'll also suggest the supercharger coupling to them.

Re: Castanets in my V6?

Hi all, Sorry to dig this old post up, but that mysterious engine rattle is back. This time I popped the bonnet (as per scm's suggestion) to try and at least roughly, locate where the sound is coming from. However, as you'll see in the linked YT video, the rattle had started to go by the time the bo...

Re: Strange Damage to PPF

Here you go .... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/use-car-cover-avoid-one-sealskin-256239/#post2497378 Thanks scm. That doesn't look like the same type of damage - mine is much more of a splattered-type pattern on the PPF, whereas the damage on the Mazda is the paintwork. I'm going...

Re: Strange Damage to PPF

There have been several recent posts on the US forum about paint damage from using "waterproof" covers. The damage looks similar to yours. Apparently, the paint does not like to be subjected to moisture under a closed cover for even several days. Either because the "waterproof" ...

Re: Strange Damage to PPF

Just for reference, this was my car a few weeks before it went into my local dealership.

The paintwork was spotless!

Re: Calling owners with factory privacy glass!

Hi MajorTom,

This is mine with factory-fitted privacy glass and pan roof.

I also had the rear-quarter windows done with the same opacity too.
