100K miles and beyond

Hello all, Prompted by another thread re a high mileage (131K) car, I began to think about the proactive management of our cars as they age. Current worldwide turbulence, switch to non ICE over time, theatre, etc make retaining the car an increasingly likely proposition I suspect in general. JLR ext...

Re: Non OE spec tyres

Same issue here today with no 255/35/20 front Pilot Sport 4S tyres in stock from multiple suppliers that my local independent contacted.

Re: Service costs all over the place

Last week I had my 13 plate F type in for its 96 month/ 128K mile service. This is a big one assuming that changing belts etc makes it so. Local independent. https://harrogatejagwar.co.uk/ Total £1200 Service belts checked and were replaced (dealer £992), front brakes fluid pads and discs (dealer £7...

Re: Climate fan left side

All clear in there sadly. With filter out and car and climate on can hear what even more clearly to my ears sounds like a gradually expiring fan! :(

Climate fan left side

Hello! Does anyone have any experience with the climate control fans beginning to wear out? The left side of my car just behind the vent (MY2013, 75K) has what to my ear, from working with computer fans, is a fan running on wearing/ worn out bearings. Noise stops completed with climate off and direc...

Re: knocking off door handles

By way of update, the door handle mechanism (which includes a very sturdy metal rod) is attached internally to the door structure. Despite the miniscule speed, enough force has been transmitted to bend the aluminum of door inside. The new part cannot be fitted. Complete new door required (trusted in...

knocking off door handles

IMG_4024.JPG So, even at the slowest speed reversing out of the garage at a slight angle, it is very possible to rip off the door handle if they are still out..... Car still locks and unlocks but have to access via passenger side..... I'll let you all know how much it costs to get fixed.....(I susp...

Re: £26000 budget for new car.

Will the seller (I assume private) agree to have the car inspected? I’ve got a 2013 v6s with almost the same spec now at 70k. Issues arose from about 40k in. By indie check I don’t mean the 160 odd point thing Jag would do I mean an independent who could give it a proper mechanical once over. Noting...

Re: New SVR North East

I must admit I'm with scharlton on this. Invest your nearly £7000 in some (lots of!) track time and 1:1 professional driving instruction. Much more fun, great experience! Set a realistic but highly challenging time to beat on your chosen track (single or average say over 3 laps). Once you have beate...

Re: My First F-Type: Opinions?

3yrs into ownership of a V6S that was a daily driver for a year of that, I'd echo the above and that at no point on the road I have got anywhere near using the engine/ car to its capability. Active exhaust stays off generally these days too. I suppose one might say I see mine more as a GT than out a...
