Re: Ticking noise (idle and driving) F Type R
A similar noise on my last car - XFR-S was a duff tappet that caused valve guide wear and required a new head. The little ‘tit’ inside the tappet wasn’t hardened properly and wore unevenly causing a sideways force on the valve. They took three attempts to finder it including engine out twice. Around...

Re: price of fuel
In my experience the price difference between super and normal is cancelled out by the difference in mpg.

Re: Tyres.
I've not found Pirellis to be as awful as others seem to, either. They are truly crap. The AWD of the F-Type helps a little but I still managed sideways on the first roundabout out the dealer in the dry with no throttle. I also had them on my last car - XFR-S. the car was virtually undrivable in th...

Re: What to buy v6 or 2 lt
Good choice. I had a 2.0 loaner a few weeks back. I actually thought it was a diesel. Not a very refined engine. V6 has loads more theatre.

Re: Looking for a V8 awd
I hope you’re not paying for the guardx? It’s rubbish, or is when dealers do their half-a-job thing on it. Get it detailed properly.
Looks great through.

Re: Rising oil level on V8
Well the dealer is certainly pulling out all the stops. A “TA” was raised with Jaguar with a list of checks to be done, one being compression. They have again drained the oil and checked for contamination. There was none, but it’s only been in for 400 miles and motorway cruising. They have refilled ...

Rising oil level on V8
Hi all. Just back from a European road trip. We left almost three weeks ago with the oil level at 3/4 flipping to one segment after a few seconds. Up until that point, I’d done 5500 miles in 6 months and the oil hasn’t moved. 1300 miles down to Austria via France and Germany. Made full use of the Au...
