Re: Wanted under 10k miles P300

Exactly. I just ring around until I get a dealer who has what I want, do the negotiation on the phone and then truck it to me. Some dealers think I am a tyrekicker but I tend to get a reasonable price that way, only 3 of my last about 10 cars has been bought locally, the rest interstate or over 100k...

Re: Wanted under 10k miles P300

While that is eminently sensible, I could never wait a year to get a car. Once my mind is set, I go like a machine and I can barely sleep until I have it. I'd pay 10% too much to get what I want when I want it for sure. In fact I just did for the Mustang, and if I cop a whack from the depreciation s...

Re: Wanted under 10k miles P300

You should drive a p300 XE as well. They are a fantastic looking car, 90% of the f type to drive with 150% of the space, at 60% of the cost (figures made up!). A bit easier to live with as well. But I suppose that the XE is a beautiful sedan, the F Type is just beautiful. We are fortunate enough to ...

Re: Used values when back to normal

One of my clients is quite successful in car wholesaling, when I was talking to him about getting the mustang as a toy he said that he thought the prices would stay up for about a year or so but then when they fall they will go to what they should have been all along, i.e. you will get two years' dr...

Looks beautiful. I've not tried that method of drying the car - usually I take mine for a 5 minute belt down the highway, you lose most of the water at 100kph, save around the back. Also a leaf blower works well to dry the car.

Re: How do you know you have a ceramic coating ?

Yeah essentially if (say) bird crap or sap isnt pretty much washing off under the hose and you need to use shampoo, you probably dont have ceramic coating. The ph neutral shampoo doesnt clean much, that's for sure.

Re: Old vs Facelift, Suspension and Comfort!

Excellent, but I'll add that if you buy a car with 3000 or 4000 miles on it, you'll find the driver's seat has softened up substantially, and that takes up a lot of the hits. The seats in the new cars are quite firm. So look for a demo that fatties have been driving. You can really feel the seat lea...

Re: Exhaust button

Ahhh, but I think there was some confusion in the OP's mind about active exhaust vs switchable active exhaust vs normal exhaust, and I have to say I'm not sure whether I have it right myself!

Re: Exhaust button

My understanding is that: Base, no active exhaust - no butterfly valves, not as loud. No button, active exhaust - the butterfly valves open up at start, then close, then open again at about 3500 rpm unless in dynamic which opens them up; button (switchable active exhaust) - if you leave it off, then...

Re: Suspension and poor ride comfort

Whether it was because of the forged (lighter) wheels or the bigger rims (21's as opposed to 19's) and the resultant lower sidewalls, or as I suspect a combination of the two, the handling in my f type was improved fantastically when I went from 19's to 21's and it was an improvement that I feel eve...
