It's a device at the back of the engine block that feeds noise into the cabin. A few people have removed it, especially on the US forum, which has a thread about how it can be removed.

We need more information about your slope - my drive slopes and I've never had any issues with clearance but it slopes down from the road.

I had similar symptoms some time back and it turned out to be the electrical connector on the fuel pump not being fully seated. Apparently like that from the factory and it took a while to work itself loose enough to intermittently lose connectivity. Good luck!

The first F-Type I test drove seriously was a year old with 10,000 miles on. It was nice, but there were a few things that made it look like it had done 10,000 miles, so I was undecided about it. While I was procrastinating another sales guy sold it to someone else! But then I found another year old...
