Re: Fuse 15
Yep the 'plastic screw thingies' are a bit counter intuitive, in that you seem to have to do them up a bit so that you can put them back in. For the ppf cars (68 plate on ish) it's a Goldielocks mod. i.e not too quiet and not too loud, just right for all the time. Although it's probably worth puttin...

Re: Data Sim
Try doing a reset and manually searching for the phone network. Change Auto to Manual on the relevant menu. Configurations for UK networkd are in this link.

Re: Ceramic Coating – Buff or Bluff?
Ta! Might look at that. I have a couple of things that are supposed to strip coatings but they aren't really that effective. Some cutting compound with a DA polisher does the job, but it'd have been easier without having a ceramic coating. I didn't pay anything for it and it seems to be something qu...

Re: Fuse 15
My car went in for warranty work and I forgot to put the fuse back. Doh! The technician phoned to ask if I knew that the exhaust was stuck open and when I told him why, he said he had thought I might have done something as it sounded nice!

Re: Aftermarket Black Pack
I undid the wing bolts (top of the wing and 2 on the inside of the door shut) if you use a thin rag over the 10mm socket you can save the paint on the bolts so they dont strip. Also use a rag to cover the hole in the sill at the bottom of the side panel, in case you drop a side bolt in there. Maski...

Re: Ceramic Coating – Buff or Bluff?
Ceramic coatings are long lasting and do make the car easier to clean. If you're not that much into polishing your car they are a good thing. Problem is that the dealer is just going to get one of their people to apply it, without any preparation of the paint. So. It will just seal over all of the d...

Re: 5 litre V8 which petrol?
Proper petrol is about 20p per litre more than E10, which is circa £12 for a tank. I reckon at least half it that gets recouped through better mpg, so at £6 extra per fill I think it's worth it for all of the benefits. My Abarth didn't like E10 and threw an EML after 2 tanks. Stayed away from it eve...

Re: Tyre valve dust caps
They really need vaseline or grease on them or they will get stuck. My daughter had some on her Mazda and one was completely stuck. Even after slicing it in half vertically using a junior hacksaw blade, one half remained welded to the threads and needed to be prized off. Horrible things! Galvanitic ...

Re: 2016 Battery Indicator
Do ensure the car processes are shut down fully before changing the battery. There's more about this in other threads in here. How do you do that? Surely the car wakes up to a certain extent as soon as you unlock it to open the boot. It's just waiting for the info screen to go into sleep mode, same...
