JLR did dispatch a limited number of 400 Sport hardback release/presentation packs.
This was a beautifully bound book with metal rivets binding the pages and every little detail about the car drawn up with clear tracing paper overlay pages if memory serves me right.
You might find one on eBay...

The pulley must be glowing cherry red to fit the cooled shaft; put it on a few mm out of alignment and it'll chew belts forever!

OK. You can shift from D to N and back whilst on the move, but as you say if it's not that area, and judging form the age of the car you don;t have the air pump and accumulator that was on very early cars for activating the exhaust flaps, it can't be that. Yes, and had all mine replaced with the new double zinc plated versions without any problem at all...and mine weren't showing any sign of corrosion. IMO Key is to work with the Service manager. We built up an excellent rapport with the dealer principal and SM over the years and they were first class...
