This cropped up when I took my car for its first service at an independent Jaguar garage. The engineer was surprised items where missing off full JLR service record. There are two companies who can take a standard steering wheel & completely revamp it.

It can be reshaped & refinished in a variety of leathers & or alcantara etc. Have a look at Custom Control Steering Wheels or Royal Steering Wheels.

Someone on here (can’t remember who sorry), took the plate mount off the beam, cut out a small section in the middle then plastic welded the two ends back together so his short plate fit correctly then put it back on the beam - looks perfect. Think he had to get a smart repair done to fill the hole...
