Hey guys/girls - I'm over the moon having bought my f type couple weeks ago (2014 model)....especially as my car before was a 2004 renault clio!! :) big jump yes. So just before getting home, I parked up and my luck I parked up, rolled up my windows, turned the car off and opened the door....my keyless entry key fell out of my pocket straight into a drain!! I was wondering how much a key would be? should I only trust jaguar with a new key (i.e. stay way from online purchase on ebay for example). Any advice would help.

Only Jaguar can really give you a new key as it needs to be coded to the car.

Ouch! Look for an independent Jaguar specialist. Might be a cheaper option as they should have the necessary to code a new key to your car.

I havn't researched the issue on F types but that figure is silly. Probably a specific key from a limited car stock or a lock change.
With BMW there are many specialist who will recreate a fully working key, coded, etc. for fifth of that. You can choose OEM or even different types such as a Bentley

That's a truly daft quote for a new key.

Can you not get the drain cover up and get the key out?

I'd be inclined to see if I could salvage the old key. Rinse it fresh water, let it dry and pop a new battery in. I have rescued lots of electronics from this and even worse; salt water!

You could try fishing around with one of these, or similar.
