Finally took the plunge and have taken on a F-Type. 9000 miles on a 63 plate.
Still have the 2003 XJR with all the toys - so making comparisons.
First impressions - fast.
Could do with an extra inch rearward movement on the seat - but ok.
Ride - a little harsh on the suspension - but you know your in a brute.
Dynamic mode - the Jury's out. I need some more time to experiment.
Overheard comments from public, Father to daughter "That's gonna be my next car." ;)
In for first service in couple of weeks. Which will be a "2nd" service version.
Can't wait to get back in it - when is summer coming! LOL
Have bought all Carbon Fiber side and bonnet/hood vents.
Next is Gloss Black Alloys.

Nice car. Black wheels will show it off nicely imo.

Welcome!
Nice photo viewpoint....Looks superb!
Very interested to hear more of your views regarding how the F-Type compares or contrasts with your XJR.....Would be great to see the two parked together, also.
I'm sure the CF trim will be the icing on the cake, but if it were me, i'd avoid the gloss black wheels.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that, but.....the trend for all black wheels? I just don't get it. Why try to make the wheels disappear? Can someone enlighten me about why black wheels improve the styling? (That's a serious question folks...)

The theme is Red and Black. To me the silver wheels look odd, last ones on the shelf so they'll have to do iyswim.

I have black/diamond cut faced on my white car so maybe that's a compromise. Black/red wheels might be less invisible.

Anyone good with Photoshop?

No, but here's our IRR/Black steed. Indeed, Our first F, V8S had black wheels which was too much IMO.

The V8R has grey/Carbon forged blades, that I think are the dogs:

There is darker and then there is black......all black.

What's the all black out wheel trend all about folks?? Does it come from F1??....or....?

Thanks for all the replies.
Yes all a matter of taste - but I think you either go full chrome - or dark.
The current silver looks a little too "standard" for me.
Put 20 inch Sepangs on the XJR - with the main parts in dark grey.
They look far better than the standard 19" originals.
F Type VIN is early I think K08707. Think was in dealer showroom - prob. as demonstrator for a long while.
May also look to replace the chrome grill surround as well - think TEL 75 looks great.
What is smarttop remote - I'm guessing it's what it says on the tin. Post a link if you have one!

Welcome and enjoy ...

I'm with Jagster on the black wheels ... My daily is a c-class estate ... A colleague has a similar car, both are mid grey. He refinished in gloss black and the wheels disappeared ...I went with the M5 shadow chrome look and the car looks unique ... All personal choice/taste ... But it's an F-type so will be great regardless ...
Storm Grey V6 coupe, fun, fast, popping and crackling with smiles all the way ... missed more than I expected!
1998 NSX 3.2 Targa manual
C43 AMG estate, lots of toys, like the F-Type but with 4 seats and far more stealthy but still with pops and crackles!
