Hi All,
I've just joined the F Type club with the purchase of a 3 year old 5.0L "R" coupe and am thoroughly enjoying it. Having swapped 2 wheel performance machines for a 4 wheel version I am very pleased to say the "R" feels motorbike fast.
As it's a secondhand car, I'm trying all the options to make sure everything works and the ad said front park assist, I can see sensors but there are no beeps when parking the nose close to a wall. Am I missing something?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a car cover?

Looks the business. Welcome to the forum.

If you haven't selected reverse then the audible sensors on the front won't be started up. For 'front end in' parking you have to press the 'P' button on the dash as you go into the parking space and then everything will do what you want it to do...hopefully.

I nearly got a nasty surprise in a similar situation, expecting the sensors to be warning me but fortunately I made the decision to stop and get out to look....1mm from a brick wall...Phew. Never again.

Thanks, just thought I'd check the manual, typically the last thing I do, and yes, it shows the button to press for the front sensors.

re front parking aid - as mentioned by the Jagster - you'll need to press the P button next to the display to turn it on as you approach - although there may be an option in the menu to turn activate it permanently - not sure if this applies to all models tho

Hello scharlton,

Welcome to the club & love your fabulous car.

Cover - My car is driven weekends only & lives on driveway mid-week. A cover was a vital addition when purchased & I did lots of research. My set-up, I believe is as good as you can get without garaging it!

I have two covers. First one is the OEM Jaguar cover which is like a soft second skin. It fits perfectly. I then purchased a waterproof, custom made, cover from Specialised Car Covers. Again this is made-to-measure & fits over the OEM. It repels rain like off a ducks back & is secured by up to four straps that come with the cover.

Takes about 5 minutes to fit both, including straps. When both a removed they fold up easily & fit in the boot.

Do you fancy stretching your new cars’ legs & meeting lots of Jaguar & F-Type owner? A week on Saturday is the November Jaguar Breakfast Club at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire.

There’s a thread giving all the information on here in the events section. Also see the website here...

Depending upon your location, some owners meet up & convoy to Gaydon.

Lots of lovely knowledgable folk on here.

Cheers,

Darren

Has to have something like this else every time you join a line of traffic, or a pedestrian walks across the road in front, the sensors will start the warning bleeps. You’d really fed up With it.

Welcome Scharlton.

A very nice choice of car and model. I came from sportbikes myself, and love how I need to modulate the throttle in the F-type R rwd in the first gears - just like I needed it on the bike. That was a big part of my decission to go for a rwd R, and it was such a good choice 😊

Use the power with the respect it needs, and have fun!
