Hi, I googled "best 'f type' forum" and got this one. I don't know if it's true, but, here I am with high hopes.

I first got on to "forums" when I bought a Victory Motorcycle in 2007 and needed an education on them, in order to own, drive, maintain and customize my new toy".

It was a very gratifying experience. I got far more than I gave. It saved me thousands of dollars and mentored me through years of participation which enhanced every aspect of my motorcycle "owning" experience. My sense of what it all meant "flourished" and my whole life is richer today because of it. I doubt that any of those that shared their agonies and ecstasies of owning a Victory, had any idea of the power of their contribution, but I most certainly appreciate it.

I later moved on to Indian Motorcycle forums and then to Thunderbird, after buying a 2003 in 2014.

I fell in love with the car and learned (from the "forum") that is was in "reality" a Jaguar with a body designed to capture the Thunderbird roots of 1955 but updated to the technology of the new 21st Century.

(All of this made possible because the then President of Ford, loved the 1955 Thunderbird and since Ford owned Jaguar, he was in a position to seize an opportunity do something that has fulfilled the wants and needs of us TBird lovers).

A few years ago, on a road trip in the Bird, I was noticing how strongly I felt about the car and wondered what it would look like and be like, if they did a current version of the 2002-2005 Thunderbird and it occured to me that it had been done by Jaguar......The F Type .

So, I bought one and each day I own it, my narrative become more coherent, for me.

I bought a 2014 convertible from a "wholesaler" that had bought it at an insurance auction. I assessed that the needed repairs to be minor and having a good friend that owns a body and paint business (and it doesn't hurt that he's a perfectionist+) , I pulled the trigger.

It's now in my garage, looking "brand new" but before I go down and start something, I thought I better get on a forum and start getting tutored and mentored.

So here I am. John. 2014 F Type convertible, V6, 24000 miles. It is Satellite Grey (at least I think so, it's the color that looks most like "light metallic blue"), Ivory/Mineral Stitch /Jet interior, Black top. I don't think it have the camera and mirror "warning" package, but everything else. It's down in the garage, sitting next to a 2004 (Merlot/Sand/Merlot) Thunderbird and I imagine when I'm not there, they are arguing "I'm so much better than you" against "you wouldn't be who you are today, without me?"

I'm ready to go to work (brakes: rotors and pads, first thing), paint protection, tires, maybe custom wheels, but I want to get immersed in the forum first, for all the reasons I've mentioned above. I want to know everything I can learn about these great cars..the good, the bad, the possible (You noticed I didn't include "the ugly". I haven't found a single "ugly" thing about this car).

Thanks for being here, keeping the lights on, I'm pleased to have found you. I'm ready for your advice, input, opinions, counsel, suggestions, recommendations, referrals and questions.

Welcome - that's the best introduction I've seen yet! I'm guessing (and I might be wrong) that you are based in the US; and I'll be interested to see what you do with the car.....but we need pics!! Please!

Hello John. Welcome to the forum. Lots of nice, knowledgeable folks on here.

Only had mine 9 months. Currently hibernating in a secret storage location. Great facility & boy does the owner like to keep it secret. One step from signing the Official Secrets Act 😄

I’m also up for a bit of modding. Mine is hopefully a keeper so happy to put my own stamp on it. Already done the Project 7 front grill. Alloys & calipers off to specialist in spring to be made mint, new tyres & painted ready for 2018 season. Once warranty up looking at power, suspension, exhaust upgrades too.

Where are you? US by sounds of it. There’s a US F-Type forum, which you’ve possibly visited, lots of modders on there.

Photos please!
