Potential new owner - Hi

Hi all,

I currently drive a 2006 BMW Z4M Coupe, and have done for the last 6 years now. Feel like a change, and am looking at picking up an F Type R Coupe in the new year (Feb~ ish) and have a few questions!

I am looking at a 2015 AWD R, budget c.45k. Would consider RWD if price is good enough, but think I want the AWD as I will daily the car for 3-4k miles a year (winter included).

As for the questions..:

What spec items can't you guys live without? I know I want the Pano Roof, but otherwise not sure what else is worth seeking out.
Any common issues I should be aware of when purchasing?
What are general running costs like? Tax is same as the Z4 so fine, MPG is about the same, as is insurance. But what are parts prices, servicing etc like?

Any help as I look at making the change greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

Must haves for daily driver: heated (and cooled?) seats, heated windscreen, heated steering wheel. They're my essentials.

Regarding expenses, most of my journeys are short and I've averaged 17.5 mpg over the nearly two years I've had the car. With a 2015 car I'd be inclined to find a good independent to maintain it - mine's still under warranty and I only use main dealers for warranty issues (of which I've had one to date). You're buying a £100k car so don't expect parts to be cheap, but they're not outrageously expensive in my experience. Main expense items are fuel and tyres!

Oh, and you'll need to strengthen those grin muscles! ;)

Good luck with your search!

It's a shame to see 14 plate R's dropping below the 40k mark :(

I'll be interesting to see if the new facelift hits secondhand prices harder or if the dropping of the V6 will push people to demand more V8's
