After 10 yrs of Alfa Brera ownership I have bought a sapphire blue 2014 V6 S. I've had it for two weeks now and its everything I expected, certainly puts a smile on your face.
As expected the Sat Nav is fairly useless, it still has 2013 maps in it. One question I had was, does upgrading to newer maps do anything to improve the firmware/logic or is it simply a map update?

You can modify your signature and profile through the pull down menu under your name, right hand top.
Would be nice to know - in case you do not mention the car -, other members know what type you drive.
Also a rough location " Island of coast W-Europe" eg , gives a hint about your location...

I drive a fairly new car, so I wouldn't know about the '13 issues. But there must be updates since the type
was produced until this year.

Hi and welcome, re the map update, I can tell you from my Evoque map update which has same system, it will be just that, only improvement to logic will be some roads will now exist for it to use.

Thanks for that. So essentially not worth the bother. I'll just stick to Google maps on my phone for the time being.
