Big hello from Hampshire (plus sat nav issue)

Hi everybody

Just wanted to say a big hello from Hampshire and thanks for adding me to the forum.

I picked up my car (V8 S) last week and I can't seem to get the sat nav to work! When I try and put a post code in it only allows me to input numbers but not letters! I assumed that the letters were pre programmed address's from the previous owner so I did a reset to the default settings but this hasn't worked.

The sat nav did work when I put in a pre programmed address so it certainly works.

Unfortunately, the previous owner is away until after Christmas and I was hoping to get this resolved by this weekend.

If anyone has any clues/ideas then I'd really appreciate the advice.

It limits input to only what's valid for the postcode-so-far that's been input. Have you selected letters rather than numbers at the bottom right of the keyboard display? Which field are you entering - the Search or the Type an Address box?

Whereabouts are you, maybe one of the forum members is local to help?

I've tried both the search and the address boxes. As soon as I put any kind of address into the address box it limits the letters that are available to me.

It's very odd. I'm based in North Hants (Fleet)

That sounds weird, but I'll admit the satnav isn't the most intuitive I've ever used. If you're passing through Chandler's Ford drop by and I'll see if I can help!

Have you tried entering just the postcode with no address?

Yes it sounds like you are not doing it right. I think when I 1st got mine I had trouble in putting post codes. If you still have it live as mine is until April 2020 you get the live road blocked warnings etc. Having said that it ain't that good anyway. Always use google maps on phone.

Yes, I've tried just putting the post code in but it only gives me the option to put in numbers!

You're advice is very much appreciated - I think it might be a trip to my local dealer!!

If you have time to pop to Frimley at the weekend I'm happy to take a look and compare to mine - can't promise we'll solve it (I tend to use Waze anyway) but happy to compare.

One thing to try is make sure it's set to UK maps. had lots of issues with Evoque users as the system defaults to Belgium, and postcodes start with numbers.

Hi Max
Philskill beat me to the default to Belgium reply as I too had this with a previous Jaguar.
However a quick look at the handbook gives an alternative.
You can input GEO Coordinates which are just numbers as a destination.
A quick check in where to menu to check it's not stuck on that function.
