I think there is more to it than just wheel size. As others have said the 20” will be firmer than the 19” as the tyre depth is less.
However, the V6S comes with adaptive suspension which will compensate compared to a base model without and also, from the back to back test driving I did (before deciding on a 380 with 20”) there is also a noticeable difference between the standard ‘sport’ seats and the optional ‘performance’ seats which hold you better but are definitely firmer.
I guess it will come down to test driving yourself and seeing if you’re happy with it, good luck.
Tyre Kicking Potential Owner 19'' or 20''?
Thanks to everyone that has replied, well chuffed with the response. Test drive Wednesday 11.30 Booked. Lets hope the wether is as nice Wednesday as it is here in Kent today.
The one I'm testing has performance seats (but no heated option..erm weird) so lets see Wednesday.

I second the sentiment
20 is very firm but suits the look of the f type

I went for a car with 20's as I prefered them over the style of the 19's. I don't find the ride harsh at all.
scz4 - the F Type rides much better than any Z4. I'm guessing that like me you've had the BM

MY14 3.0S Convertible. Polaris White with black hood, Black pack, Design pack, 20" Cyclones, Red performance heated seats, heated flat bottom steering wheel, Meridian sound system, plus lots more
Those that find the 20" wheels too firm in NORMAL suspension mode have not taken the time to experiment with dropping the tyre pressures maybe a couple of PSI - It transforms not only the ride, but also the grip level.
19's just look lost in the wheel arches IMO.
Looks alone - I'd go for 21's any day:

Not true in my case, I downsized my 19" wheels to 18" and non run flats. So my E89 Z4 is definitely more compliant than my F type. But I smile a lot more now
