Took the plunge on a secondhand P300 R-Dynamic i with only 1300 miles on the clock, and the car was delivered last weekend. The car is great, just trying to get some issues resolved, including registering with Jaguar without a V5C yet, understanding what a data SIM will do and exactly what card I need to buy.

I'm in Cheshire, UK - any recommendations for where I should have the car serviced? Should I stick to Jaguar dealers, or consider specialists such as Horner & Hudsons in Macclesfield?

Welcome, great colour enjoy! Plenty of good Jag dealers and independents, I’m sure someone will be along to advise about the ones in your area.

Welcome! Pictures or it didn't happen. ;)

Yep the info about the different subscriptions and remote services is pretty confusing. The car has one built in SIM and the first thing will be to set up an InControl account online and connect the car to your account so that the basic remote features using that SIM are enabled.

AFAIK adding your own SIM (and having the right subscription with Jaguar) will enable things like live traffic, having a wifi hotspot in the car and possibly over the air updates of the system and maps. Mostly pretty pointless if you intend to use CarPlay or Android Auto. Getting the right kind of SIM and getting it to work may be challenge as it seems. Didn't manage to get that working myself yet. My dealer said it's not worth it if you have to pay for it and he's probably right. I intend to at least try it out before I decide if I'll keep an own SIM and want to pay for those extra features.

Thanks very much for the replies - it really is here, and here is a quick photo as proof!

I'm doing my best to be patient until the V5C arrives, so that I can get the car registered with Jaguar against my name. I'll then have a look at whether I set up a data SIM card.

Welcome

Try this Sim totally free, just be careful what options you turn on to use data, what you want is traffic and updates.

gives you 200MB a month free.

Looks great - I have the Sim as car came with subscription being new. The live traffic is good as I don’t always connect my phone and use CarPlay as if I do I often forget to disconnect and take it out of the car (why is there no warning when you switch off not to forget your phone😂), the other issue I have is Waze and Google Maps often seem to screw up showing no roads and sometimes muting my music if I am listening to the car radio.
The traffic announcements don’t seem to work for me, that might be an Australian thing as we don’t have the same form of traffic warnings I seem to recall from the UK.
The search function is handy again if you aren’t using CarPlay but as said if you do always use CarPlay not certain that the SIM provides a lot but I pay just AUD 15 per month and didn’t even get close to the data limit on the first month I had it.

Lovely car and welcome.
I’m from Cheshire too.
Crewe Jaguar service team have been great so assuming yours is still in warranty I can recommend them as an option if not too far for you.
Re the Sim, mine came with a cheap Ubigi 500mb data only sim (Jaguar supplied for first 12 months I think) which was fairly useless. Soon swapped out for an EE 5GB per month data only sim (nano sim) which more than covers it each month.
To be honest though rarely use the data - too much fun with the sound and handling!
Also keen to see if there are enough forum members in the area to warrant pub meet up one evening.
