A RWD V6S coupé is IMHO the ideal F-Type and being quite well specced and looking this fantastic it does seem like a very nice example if only the history is clean.

I would never buy one of these cars without a warranty either. If this warranty only has good coverage and covers the most common stuff like the diff, O2 sensors, coolant system bits and supercharger you'd have peace of mind and a year to iron out any such issues.

Regarding the sports seats I did some longer drives in identical seats in an XKR and didn't find them uncomfortable, only a bit warm but that's maybe because I'm used to perforated cooled seats. Road tripping all over Europe is my thing too and I've done it with other seemingly hard Jaguar seats. My last X250 XF had the top of the range 18 way sports seats that were quite hard but still super comfy. My F-Type has the latest magnesium based performance seats which are even thinner than these and also appear as quite hard but are super comfy even if you spend all day in them. That said I'd say it's unlikely that those earlier sports seats would be uncomfortable unless you're really big and heavy.

Thanks (again!) Tom, your experience is valuable indeed. I found a post on this forum that mentioned osh.jaguar.com, so I put in the VIN and the most recent service was 2017, at 32k miles (it's at 66k now)! Is it only main-dealer services that are logged here, or do services at independent garages get logged here too?

It's concerning to say the least - I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow and quiz them on it. Good shout re. warranty. I'm going to make a list of things I'd like covered (awfully similar to your list!) and check.

That's great to know about the seats... It's settled some of my concerns about them, that's for sure. I also found an old-ish post after doing a search here, and someone had done 600+ miles in them with no issues!

Independent garage services can also be logged in the OSH but I'm not sure if all garages bother or even know how to upload service info there. My guess is that it's been serviced by an indy since 2017 and the records haven't been uploaded to the OSH. Main dealers sometimes also miss to register services in the OSH.

One more thing which is good if it's covered by the warranty are the exhaust valves.

Loads of people have those seats and I can't remember ever seeing anyone complaining about them. I'm pretty sure I've seen some threads about them but that was perhaps over at the US forum. From my experience all modern Jaguar seats are comfortable and the seats in this car used to be the best F-Type seats so they should be fine.

As Major Tom said, a lot of servicing isnt logged into OSH system.

Both my cars have full Jag history but the last couple havent been logged on OSH.
Not an issue for me as i have main dealer paperwork - i like a bit of paper (and the old service books) but online seems to be the way things are going.
IRR V8S. (Maybe going soon).
Macan turbo ..wifes.
Sunny Scotland based.

this OSH is a racket , i preferred the old service books , like AJ i to had "issues" with services not getting added to it by main jaguar dealers , the last service in october 21 an oil service , was not added to the OSH but i was given a receipt and the paperwork by pentland stirling , i phoned them was told "if "its just an oil service they do not add it to the OSH , and the customer has the paperwork to prove the service was done , makes a mockery of OSH

SquareFeet, press the selling dealer on the service history , ask if they have any paperwork to back up the gap between 2017 - present , tell them this is a sticking point see what they say, I see you are in South Yorkshire, there is a very good jaguar Indy garage in Doncaster called the jag specialist that I have seen mentioned on other forums perhaps they would be willing to do an inspection

Fingers crossed that it was the OP who got hold of the paper work and quickly pulled the trigger then. :)

It wasn't me! I'm gutted - was waiting for a call back from them and in the interim they've sold it. I hope its new owner is happy with it, but yeah... gutted.

Oh well, at least now I know what I'm definitely looking for, what I can compromise on, and that I should be quicker next time. You never know, the next one that pops up might well be the Racing Green/Oyster combo I originally had my eye on (before finding out they're rarer than unicorns).

Thanks for all your help and advice, chaps/chapesses - you've made my (hopefully) eventual purchase much easier!
