Hi all

Lurked for a bit before registering just now with a view to purchasing a V6S in the (hopefully) not too distant future. Based in South Cheshire, viewing one on Thursday! Just thought I’d say hello…

Well, it’s done! I am the proud owner of this lovely piece of Jaguary! Here it is pictured around my mates house as he was keen to see it. He was a BMW main dealer service manager for many years and gave the once over. He also enjoyed having a quick drive!

Congratulations, the car looks great.
Enjoy driving it, you might find your fuel bills are pretty steep for the first few weeks as you keep remembering those urgent trips you have to make just to check the loud pedal is in working order - I’ve been doing those for 2 years now!

Well, gave the car a bit of a clean today - did the boot & interior fully, engine bay a bit of a spruce up and washed and cleaned all the glass and bodywork. Looks a million dollars now, and that’s before I do a full detail!

Anyhow, a number of issues arose, some which I was aware of, some not.

1. I knew one of the wheels had a fair bit of corrosion setting in, but noticed it starting on all the others too - I’ve booked it in to Top Marques in Fenton, SoT who are proper refurbishers. I may as well get them all done together.

2. The engine cover, once scrubbed with some diluted APC has revealed a bit of a mess - it’s as though it has a couple of coats of something applied, both of which have started to be stripped - it also has a load of white splash marks seemingly engrained. Not sure what it had applied, but it looked alright, now it looks terrible! I will have to look into how to fix it, or I might have to replace it. It is also missing one of the rubber donuts that mount on the spigots.

3. The nose has a myriad of stone chips, which the seller was honest about and I obviously couldn’t miss upon inspection! I thought I would do them myself but now I have washed it there are so many it will probably be better just to get the nose repainted.

4. Slightly more worrying is the boot floor which has evidence of water ingress. There are rusty tide marks around the pan and the battery tray has rusty water sitting in it. I read somewhere about a vent in the rear passenger wheel arch possibly being the culprit? Anyone any knowledge that may help?

So despite that, it looks fab and runs like a dream. Should keep me busy for a while anyway!!!

Congrats and welcome! Looks like you found a cracking looking one! Never mind about the engine cover, it's best to remove it anyway.
