Hi yes sorry to make my first post such a negative one but I am really quite worried the car is an ftype 4oo awd ex demo the diff has failed within six days of purchase and the car has done 1700 miles I absolutly love the car and wonder if it is a cmmon fault or a one off piece of bad luck thanks for the reply russ

Yikes, my F400 AWD has covered 953 miles from new so hope not. I presume the diff is the same as other F-Types and not unique to the F400.
Although that is what warranty is for.
How do you know it failed? Mechanical breakdown or error on computer?

The car is at the main dealers at the moment from the information I have been given it is a mechanical issue ad they are replacing the diff as I said in my previous post don .t want moan just really worried that it may be a design fault let's hope not because I love the car

Heck, that's bad.
Mine had a new diff after 2 years, it was weeping, then I think they messed up the reseal job by overtightening so new diff.
Thank heavens for a warranty.
Not sure I would ever run one of these without a warranty.

Yes, I hope so. It does seem the diffs can be a weak point in what otherwise is a stunning car.

This seems to be a common issue and happened to mine (3yo 15.5K).

Took the car back to have a few 'little' issues sorted, among which was a weeping diff seal. During the replacement procedure, as I ub=nderstand it, the retaining nut on the pinion shaft was overtightened causing almost immediate bearing failure resulting in a complete new diff being fitted. Ouch!
