I just noticed that while my front brake calipers have a very mice 400 Sport logo on them, the rears are plain and ugly, and even look unfinished. Have I got something missing on my rears, or is this just a cheapskate finish and they are supposed to look like this?

They do look a bit out of sync. A reputable company would be able to replicate the colour, finish & decals of the front.

If Midlands based, try BCS (Brake Caliper Specialists) Nottingham.

Mine are the same. It would be nice if they did the rears as well. My last car only had the fronts branded as well.

Yes very cheap skate & disappointing- the finish on the rears seems really poor, mine are loosing their paint finish in places already - only done 4000 miles and they look rough. Fronts are good as new - will probably take it to the Dealer to see if warranty covers it.

I very nearly bought a 400, and the first thing I was going to do was to paint the calipers yellow and have black decals.

Mmm... not impressed. I hadn't spotted those before.

They're also very small even though the brake discs are large.

But it's the only (minor) annoyance with what is an absolutely amazing car.

ColinW, I have Brembo brakes on my Range Rover & the rear calipers have been replaced twice under warranty. The car has only done 6000 miles. Just like Jaguar the fronts are really good with a really good finish but the rears seem to be caught by the bean counters. Although the ones on now have a better finish so they may have woken up. I have not had a look at the ones on my Jag, so I better have a trip to the garage to see.

So...

I've been reading a few forums about brake refurbs.

Is it just a question of cleaning & painting? Or is there more to it?

Can anyone recommend a specialist, preferably in Hampshire?
