Feeling sad for myself.... Monday night I bust my ankle/leg so Im sat on the sofa in a cast waiting for a lift back to the hospital to see a trauma specialist staring out the window at the quite frankly fifthy F-Type on the drive.

Been told already I wont be driving for 10-14 weeks by doctor already however I bust my left leg and I have an auto. I've already queried it but is adamant that when the temp cast is removed and a permanent boot fitted it just wont fit into the spare space the clutch pedal would normally be. This distresses me greatly.

To cheer myself up I am hoping to finally get the car detailed and protected by a local company who I hope will pick it up and drop it off.

The car, according to the app, is shutdown as it hasn't been used for 2 days. Its double locked but will the battery be flat in 10 weeks??? Time will tell.

Get a CTEK charger on it. Had mine on from Nov to June. First time start. Unlike a normal charger it regulates the voltage & if on for a while goes into pulse mode which keeps the battery at 95-100% capacity & pulses it when necessary Don't buy a Jaguar one as its a rebadged Ctek at twice the price.
If you battery does go flat, how do you get into the car to charge it up? :o

I detached my medial ligament in my left knee (as well as dislocating my shoulder and snapping tendons in it) last September.
Had my leg in a straight brace for 3 months so no driving.
As soon as I was into a 90 degree brace I was driving again...

Surely if you can bend your knee you'll be ok to drive?

Sorry to hear your bad luck. Still it could be worse... you could have injured you knee in an accident with the F Type and be looking out at a crunched up car

Sorry to hear your bad news, hope it heals quickly. As Zyp said, surely as long as you can get into the car and bend your leg back why would you not be able to drive? I often have my left leg back at 90 deg. on long journeys.

But in 14 weeks it will feel and look like a brand new car all over again ... :) Happy Days to come ...

Could not resist today. 4 weeks in and now in a Ossur boot decided this afternoon to fire her up.

Opened up fine, had a play with electric seats to move them back, live popped up on head unit saying "live updated". No battery warnings and fired up instantly. No issues at all.

Idle quickly dropped back to normal so switched off. So thats 4 weeks and no battery issues so anyone who has issues then you definitely have something wrong.

As far as driving, first day out of plaster and in Ossur boot. Its quite big and heavy compared to cast and dont feel confident to drive just yet. Car insurance have said they are happy to cover me as standard as long as I have doctors note to say I am fit and able and conditon does not impair driving or control of vehicle. Hospital consultant considering what he can write for me. Glad I asked.

If not driving then think ill fire her up once every 3 or 4 weeks until 24th September when the boot comes off.

Hi, glad you’re on the mend and managed to start up.
The 4 week thing about starting up no problem is not an issue during the summer months (let alone the freaky warm weather we’ve had), it’s during the ‘beast from the east’ blasts during winter where the weaker batteries will struggle if not trickle charged in those 4 weeks.
