yes I know I have raised this issue before but I am still looking for a solution. Either I find one or my car is up for sale this autumn, and I dont want that - I like everything else about it.

the car is a 2016 S with leather seats and the multiway adjustment and memory. I am of average size, maybe even small these days at 175cm and 76 kg. So not a bloater. But I find that the right offset of the accelerator pedal forces my right hip against the hard side bolster and it becomes uncomfortable even painful on a long drive. The bolster is hard not least because of the electric seat mechanism and the plastic cover there is to the side. Its clearly related to the accelerator pedal misalignment with the seat because the same issue doesnt happen on the passenger seat

I noticed that the latest cars have a wider central part to the seat and mor vertical side bolsters so maybe others have complained.

Anyway, have you noticed the issue ? If so, have you found a way round it? And are the latest seats better?

I'm 180cm and 70kg with MY18 R AWD and haven't found any issue with the seating. Are you left or right hand drive (it's not clear from your post) - that might affect the right pedal placement.

I have not noticed anything like this on my MY15 R. The offset of both the throttle and brake seems spot on, so no need to "adjust" the angle of my right leg in any way with Reference to how it is placed normally.

My car is left hand drive, and with the "performance seats" that came as standard on the R version.

Compared to all other sportscar I have driven, I find the comfort of the F-type to be superiour to more or less everything else for longer trips.

I am 180 cm, and 80 kg.

No such issues on mine.

Years ago I spoke to a specialist on this who as I was uncomfortable in a Z4. He explained a correct sequence to set seats and never got it wrong since
Google for a video but it goes along the lines of
Legs first for length so you just reach the pedal limit comfortably, then front of squab so no pressure on calves when pressing pedals
Height next so good view of dash and outside
Then back so you are slightly reclined
Finally steering wheel height and extend wheel so wrists just break over top in normal position
If you get it wrong back to start from the current position and refine
Set memory
It may not be the wrong position you’re clearly in at present

My late 15 with sports seats is extremely comfortable and has a great driving position. I am 6' and normalish 😙 weight.
Whilst you have the multi way seats are they sports seats or normal?

My MY17 400s is by the far the comfiest seat I've been in for a long time, to compare the seat in my BMWX1 pains me after 10 mins....

Hi Howard,

Which seats do you have please? You say they are leather with the multi way adjustment. Are they the standard sports or Performance seats, the latter of which cannot be fully adjusted without the multi-way option IMO? The latter do have firmer bolsters as well.

Is this the only F-type you’ve driven? If yes, have you tried to drive one with the alternative seats to see if you have the same result? It could be you may need to consider swapping seats with someone? Or maybe for your ownership, if the alternative seats works, then fleabay could be your friend, but a single (or pair of) seat(s) and enjoy, and replace the factory option for future resale.

The later seats have a new design, the main objective was to increase leg/head room as the shells/padding is slimmer offering more room in both directions.

Hope this helps and hope you get to keep your F-type beyond the autumn

Regards, Paul

Sports seats with multi way adjust in our R.

Took a while to find the sweet spot, no pedal offset issue or hard bolster.

Only uncomfortable bit is the rediculous seam that runs right down the middle of the seat squab.

That said, they are starting to soften and bed in.

Are you shure you don't have the performance seats Tel?

I thought the V8 came with the performance seats as standard?

Performance seats were one of my must have options and have to say, additional to the great looks, I find them supremely comfortable, even touring to Italy - and don’t have multi-way.

A few more personal tips are to start with the seat set down low, set the back angle so your shoulders can naturally feel the seat and your head is just clear - and don’t drive with your wallet in your back pocket.
Not that it would make much difference for me
