Hi all

Bought my car a few months back (and mostly loving it) with just 340 odd miles on the clock but it is an early 2016 car that was a static display car for JLR. So, it’s been for a health check and I had already spotted the well known corrosion underneath, local workshop manager has been great with other bits I wanted sorting but reckons they’ll refuse any treatment/replacement of the corroded parts. Tried to snapshot photos but would like people’s advice as to the severity of my corrosion (bearing in mind the ridiculously low miles) and if there is a treatment rather than replacement that JLR warranty will cover? Sure I’ve seen a waxoil treatment or similar done under warranty but tech says he’s not heard of it?..

I had mine painted under warranty as part of my 1st service. Main jag dealer. I just asked. They obliged.

Yes.

The technician also took a video of underside of my car to point out remedial work, and to show that the rest of the car was OK (tyres, suspension, no oil leaks, etc). I don't have ramps to see for myself... so I'm trusting that video is actually of my car. ;)

Hi Jimbo, the under side of your car will look similar to many f types . It is easily resolved with a few hours of work (I did mine myself) using dynax s50. If the car is use daily all year round should be done once a year before winter sets in. I have attached photos of the results. Fez

Fez - what ramps are you using?

I'm after a set of ramps for mine for just such a job - you or anyone else got any recommendations?

I've seen ramps that are also jacks so you dont have to drive the car up on them - anyone using them?

Hi Daytona, see my post under title "Great 7 months time for bed" ramp details are there. The ramps are a little expense but easy to use and you just have to take care that front spoiler does not hit floor as the ramps can lift car 500mm off floor.

Thanks all, much appreciated. Car is in for panel gaps Wednesday so will ask about it being treated/painted. Your call looks awesome Fez, that's something an incompetent like myself is quite happy to pay somebody to do!!! I'll have to ask around locally to see if anyone fancies the job.

Fez, is that the aerosol dynax you've used there rather than the jerrycan presumably liquid that would need brushing on?
