Let's hope the cuts don't adversely affect quality control.

I do believe they over-reached themselves with so many new and complex models in such a short time.

Well, this was quite predictable. They neglected their base : the loyal 'of-old' perpetually returning buyers of Defenders and Discovery 3&4..

- no defender replacement on the horison even ;
- D5 is NOT a successor to the D3/D4 ;
- HORRIFYING service with the 'broken crankshaft' syndrom in ALL V6 diesels since 2007;
- and so on..

..hence, these people buy Toyota, Lexus, MB, Volvo.. ANYTHING but JLR.

I think it's a combination of many factors.
Riding good years recently without right development - petrol, hybrid, etc. and reliance on diesels that have bombed recently
Reliance on a couple of markets in China and US
Global tensions around US trade war
and of course we throw in Brexit for local markets

I don't see anything changing soon

From todays' newspaper JLR year on year sales:

UK down 0.6%
USA down 4.6%
Europe down 11.9%
China down 43.8%
Rest of world up 8.2%
Overall down 13.2%

The UK looks to be marginally the biggest market, followed by the USA now that sales to China have plummeted.
