I discovered a new feature on my 2019 F-Type today..

I was reading through the manual, what I never really did from cover-to-cover before...

Turns out that with the headlights on "auto" the LED throw a beam into the corner you are steering into..

I already wondered why foglights weren't an option, but they just 'steer' the main beams !

What I find weired is that this function does not work if you put the lights in 'dipped-beam' ; why not ?

Strangely, I can not find any mentioning of this in the online USA manual ;

Weird. My book says the difference between "auto" and "headlights on" is that the auto shouldn't be used when "driving abroad", so presumably the beam pattern changes between those options. Now the days are shorter I'll do some experimenting of the two modes.

I guess its a mistake from the translator : " Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) " is translated as ;

".. De adaptieve bochtverlichting (AFS) biedt de bestuurder beter zicht.."

Meaning :".. The adaptive corner illumination (AFS) offers the driver a better vision.." ..

So I guess they don't steer the beams into the corner..

There's a difference between "corner lights" and "adaptive lights": corner lights illuminate an extra beam to the side of the car while AFS links the car's headlight direction to the steering inputs. I'm speaking here of my experience with the lighting on my previous XKR, I don't have AFS on my F-Type, and I'm not sure corner lights are available as I can't find any mention of them in my manual.

Yes my 2015 MY2016 F Type V6S has the follow me lights that go around corners and the extra corner light. In addition it has an auto dip main beam when picking up lights from an oncoming vehicle.
