I wonder about the people on this forum, why they write what they write.. ... generation gap maybe.. ;)

In the US one can legally start driving at 15/16 I'm not sure, thats why I started at 15 yrs old.

I suspect most youngsters couldn't afford an F-Type, and if they could, would they be able to insure it? In the UK, they'd be using that much cash for a house deposit! :(

Thats why I specified ' drivers ' as I want to know the age buildup of the whole community, not just the owners...
And yes, cars are very expensive. My love for Jaguar started in the late 19-sixties, and I didn't have a driving license..

Our family car was an NSU Prinz, a 600cc 2 cylinder grandfather of present day audi's ... My dad bought it used...

My love was for the XK140 coupe. I believe that cost the same as a new house then !

Houses are expensive due to scarcety. Building enough new ones will bring prices down. But you need land for that,
and that they don't make anymore. Exept for the Netherlands ; we just drain a lake..

But houses are exessivelt priced here too. Plenty of land, but all destined for cows or birds...

My mum had an NSU Prinz in the late 60's or early 70's. Then progressed to a Prinz 4. I think that one was 1000 or 1200cc.

Same here ; my dad changed to a 1000cc since the 600cc couldn't cut it on summer holidays in the Austrian mountains..

We had to get out and back in while the car was moving, swirling all over the road to reduce the gradient...

Obviously I was living the life then driving around Europe in a Ford Zephyr, them latterly a white Vauxhall’s Vector in the 60’s that’ wa breathed on by RR’s machine shop. Overtaking Citroen DS was our staple diet
Turning up in places in Anadalisia with fisherman and beaches with no hotels
Ah - rose tinted spectacles :)

Remind me - what was this topic? Oh yes age. 60+ acing 40 and no plans of growing up any day soon :)

@cj10keeper.

I wondered where "Anadalisia" might be.. ..never heared of the place.. .. was thinking Greece or Turkey...

Googled it.. .. Andalucia.. ..sounds more familiar ;)

Been there the last 15 years when driving to my house in Portugal, near Tavira for glorious summer holidays..
Last few years parked the Discovery there all summer, flew back & forth

My thought was to park the FT there over winter, but insurance doesn't allow more then 90 days...
Anyway, we are selling the house now. Too big and no fun as our children [ 18/21/24] go theire own ways
for holidays.. Maybe the UK next year summer !

Oops, I’ve just recast my vote as I see its when you “first started driving an FType” and not current age. I’m currently on my second FType so I’ve just recast in a lower age group.

I waited until I was just past 30 to make the UK insurance affordable, I'd not had my licence long enough in my late 20's and just used the gap to save for a better spec.

Had my F-Type at 27 and was paying a nice £1350 a year for the pleasure of insuring it... Funnily enough on renewal it went up by 25% until I shopped around! What ever happened to car insurance reducing from the age of 25?

Here's to hoping the prices improve on the back of the upcoming probe (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46042087).
