Yeah I think the VAP springs will be perfect, H&R just a little too low for me.

DAE are top, James is a great guy, had a Velocity exhaust fitted there late last year and I'm still so chuffed with it. Depending on when you go, you might get to see the F-Type GT4 racecars sitting opposite in the workshop, now they're something else (based on the SVR).

You can either sit in and while away the time on their WiFi, or else Brackley is only about 15 minutes walk away so I just went and sat in the Costa there until they called me back.

Hello,

Well this years mod has been completed just in time for tomorrow’s Jaguar Breakfast Club & Caffeine & Machine with Alasdair & his epic SVR 👍

Had been looking forward to this day for ages. Up early, day off work & chance to take my pride & joy for a good drive on a normal working day. As usual, the weather was awful! Cold & peed it down most of the day.

Arrived at DAE for 0900 as agreed with James. This place is amazing. Organised, spotless, modern & friendly. These guys are top notch engineers & mechanics, I immediately felt at ease giving them the keys. They probably could’ve done the job blindfolded. There were two GT4 F-Types having work done to them. A brand new V8 was being fitted during my guided tour. They actually de-tune the engines to make them less powerful 😳

Had a walk into Brackley. HeadEd for a cafe called The Hummingbird. Breakfast & coffee were spot on 👍

About 1ish my car was ready. They took it a specialist wheel alignment place off-site. Then I heard it coming up the road & pull up outside...

Apologies for photos. Light wasn’t brilliant.

Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. Not the cheapest but anything they do to your car will be done properly, carefully & respectfully.

The VAP springs lower it by 22mm. I’m really pleased with this. As much as I love the H&R drop of 30mm, this is, imho, the ideal drop that is obvious but will not result in scrapes & bumps from everyday road use. The 15mm H&R spacers bring the wheels out just inside the lip. Would sum up this mod as subtle but noticeable.

Can you tell whilst driving? I think you can. Ride maybe slightly harder. Wheels are 30mm further apart & ride is an inch lower so feels more planted. Steering as before, was keen that car drove straight. Would always go for proper wheel alignment.

So that’s it till next year. Either getting my OEM Project 7 grill/surround fitted & painted or back to DAE for 200 Cell Pipes, Pulley & Tune. Plenty of time to decide.

Happy to answer questions & thoughts. Good or constructive!

Cheers,

Darren

Looks good... I especially like the 15mm spacers.

BTW - This was over on XE forum..... If going to breakfast club tomorrow then don't forget to bring an Easter egg, they are being collected for local kids in hospital (was publicised on the Breakfast club Facebook page).

I hate turning up for things in a 80k car and no £2 Easter egg so thought I would post!!!

Darren, your car looks amazing.

My concern about lowering & spacers is kerbing the wheels, having kerbed 3 already in less than a year. Also, I've had some close calls with front splitter.

I will be interested in how the ride quality goes, as my understanding is the springs are designed to be softer at the start of compression and firm up as needed for more engaged driving.

Final photo! Here’s one John Bowden took as we arrived at JBC on Saturday...

Looks lower than it did on the Friday evening 😳

gasgas - certainly not softer. My driving style never has, nor ever will be, described as spirited 😄 ... more pedestrian 😄

Just a question. Aw car looks brilliant lower & wider, but black wheels would finish it off. Just my opinion. Anyway. I had an e-type many years back & they all had their No plates on the bonnet like yours. I would soo like to get rid of my crossbar & fit the aston looking grill. Is there any issues putting Number there. I.E plod saying it is not vertical etc.
