Careful, let's not mention the B word. Thread could spiral out of control!

I always switch off S/S and select Dynamic before I start the car so it defaulting back to normal is no issue for me.

Now if the SW update was to default S/S to off it would get my attention.

And yes, seems a pointless namby-pamby backwards step as it makes naff all difference on start up!

But is it even legal?

Having bought and as owners shouldn’t we be asked and grant permission for functions/features to be updated or removed, EE should st least be given the choice

Shouldn’t we?

Interesting question. My car worked as stated in the manual, then it went into a dealer and they've broken that function. If I use them for my next service I'll raise the issue with them and ask them to mend it.

The function still works as in the Dynamic mode still works at the press of a button.
They have just changed the "timing" in that it no longer stays on for 6 hours or whatever after turning the engine off.
You will probably find in the small print they have the right to change functions/specs blah blah blah at any time.
I think you are onto a loser here gents.
Just have to press the dynamic mode button on each startup.

That would be a perfect solution except if the vehicle is under warranty and the dealer refuses to do any warranty repairs unless the updates are applied, this was implied in the dealers response to my email, they stated they had to do the update so I didn’t incur the cost of repairs that were carried out under warranty ie subframe and braces, apparently a big job!

Mine had it's annual service recently and H136 was on the job sheet.
I asked if they would mind not doing it. No problem and, was told it wouldn't affect the warranty when I asked.
