Just removed my bonnet louvred ready for some carbon dipping. Found they have a plastic gasket underneath them as per the attached picture. Anyone know why they are there for. Some kind of water ingress protection I assume?

...although the louvres will act as rain catchers anyway when moving forwards.

Maybe as much to prevent any rattle?

A thin louvre like that is bound to inherit a little twist from the manufacturing and release process, and the bonnet has quite complex subtle curves.

...but then all the best things do.

They won't stop water from entering. They will stop rattles though between the louvre and the tin ware.

I guess you guys will get a lot of rattles as you do mainly offroading I presume in your 4x4's...sorry, AWD's :-)

Prevent rattles as stated and possible friction wearing of the paint leading to corrosion

No it’s a local guy....up here in the Northwest. He’s based in Widnes and called Liquid Customs. Should have it done this week so can post photos.

There are no gaskets gutted on my MY18 AWD V8 R which uses the same bonnet. The vents are more sturdy though.

I have fitted SVR vents to mine so will have to see if I can get the gaskets.

Yep as mentioned above its to stop water sitting between the vent and the metal and also because in England especially this time of year there is a lot of salt on the road which can be gathered up when following another car, so you don't want that getting in there and sitting for ages.

Are the louvres the same on all model years, or have they changed? I have a 2015 M/Y car and wondered if the SVR louvres would fit.

I think they should fit all AWD bonnets.
