Hey guys,

I am looking into buying a V6S F-Type and the only spec I found that matches all my boxes has about 20k miles on it. My question is, does anyone have an F-Type that has that many miles on it, and if so, how is the reliability of car? Anything important I should know?

Thank you.

Would suggest that be absolutely fine. There are many out there to chose from. If concerned buy from Jaguar used approved as you'll get 2yr unlimited mileage extended warranty.

For history checks post or PM a reg.

Mine is nearly two years old. 12k. Other than a failed antenna all ok.

The steel frame underneath will rust way before the engine reaches the end of it life... Both v6 and v8 well respected and reliable engines if serviced correctly and not messed about with...Fez

would there be any particular reason we'd (any of us) have to question the lifespan of the F Type's engine ?
No one would question the engine life of a Honda or Mercedes or Toyota ie. These cars can and are expected to do well over 200,000km's !
My Honda Accord is on 166000km's.

I would think the F type, like all cars can do well into 200000km's as practically all modern engines are capable of.

The comment on the undercarriage rust is MOST concerning.
Again, I've not heard this to occur on any other car.
After how long must I worry about this ?

Comments please.
For those of you that observe Easter, happy holidays.

I think Fez was just saying that the engine will last "forever", subject to proper care and maintenance obviously, not that the steel frame is in any way fragile.

Just to clarify I do think the rear subframe is fragile and if left untreated would be structural unsound by the time the car is 10 to 15yrs old. There are a number of cars at 5yrs old that have had theirs replaced. Mine was treated at 6 months old just before Jaguar agreed to start replacing them... however agree the engines should last forever if looked after.
