Hi folks,
I had just came back from a drive (yesterday) and thought I would give the car a quick wash. I had just started when I noticed what I thought was a small scratch/stone chip, but on closer inspection noticed that it was a flap of paint which peeled off in my hand (see attached pics). I had read that the paint on F-Types was pretty thin, but didn’t realise It was this thin!
Has anyone experienced this before and if so, is it covered by the Jaguar warranty?
I will obviously speak to my dealership, but thought I would ask the experts on here first.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

William.

What year is your car? Have you had from new? Has it had any paint jobs done?

Hi,
It's 2016. I got it second hand with 5000miles on the clock from a Jag dealership last September, not a mark on it, great condition and no paint jobs done on it.

Cheers.

How do you know it has had no paint jobs done?
Have a very careful look at the surrounding area in good light.

I don't, but I'm putting my faith in the Jag Dealership I got it from & all history (Paperwork etc).
I have checked out the surrounding area, did this before I bought it too, and I can't see anything dodgy.

I'd say 1 of 2 causes
Either you tapped something and flexed the paint that started it, or it's been resprayed and some contaminant that prevented the paint seating properly, so it flaked off. I'd say the latter.
Dealer should fix it unless there is any clear evidence of impact

BTW - I expect 90% of all cars over a year old have had some paint done to them. My friend does PDI and used repairs on a main dealership and almost all cars new or 2 year old need some corrective paint

Cheers for that "cj10jeeper". Haven’t tapped anything. I thought about contaminant preventing the paint from adhering etc., I was just shocked at how easy it came off, pretty poor to be honest.

Thanks again.

Factory paint is not that thin....

That's a quick blow over job to get rid of stone chips or a possible ding.

I can just about make out some kind of bizarre pattern on the black plastic I think?

Cheers "Tel" & "Gasman2". Just trying to get as much ammo/info as possible before contacting the dealership.
