I had a surprise email today to say my F-Type has been delivered to the dealers. Well ahead of the mid June estimate! I just wondered if anyone could offer some advice on things to look out for, products to take or avoid when I go to collect it later this week?
A couple of questions - Should I take out alloy wheel insurance? And should I get the GAP insurance from the dealer or the company on this forum?
Photo attached from the video the dealer sent. Excited doesn’t cut it!
Collecting this week - advice?
For me...
GAP from ALA on this forum was less than than half the price of the dealer one and covers more for longer.
Alloy wheel insurance. No. Just don't kerb it LOL. Up to you. The cheaper polices are limited by value and one claim per wheel per year so don't keep kerbing the same one. Again ALA offer wheel insurance now I think.
Make sure the PDI is recorded on the online service history. Might as well make a good start to the service history.

Do not buy any extras from the dealer, ie gap, tyre/wheel insurance etc. Source the best prices yourself.
As I have already stated before, don't even let them wash or prepare the car. Get a proper detailer to pick it up, do whatever you require like ceramic coating or paint protection film & return it to them for your pickup. I would at least consider paint protection film on the nose & possibly the bonnet. Getting the whole car done it pretty expensive. Ceramic coating does not protect the paint from chips no matter what someone else may tell you. It locks in the shine & makes washing so easy & if going down this route get the wheels done, both outside & inside as the dirt floats away when cleaning.
All my cars are ceramic coated from new before pickup which includes body, wheels, interior & glass using Gtechniq products. There are many different products out their, each to their own
Going by your pic, it has already been prepared by their "detailer" so expect swirls. It may look good but if sat side by side with a properly detailed car you will instantly see the difference
Enjoy your car

GAP insurance from ALA on this forum or most other specialist forums is excellent cover at a fraction of stealers quotes.
Pay particular attention to body gaps around the bonnet to wing and spoiler, plus door closure gaps against the rear wings and sills.
Otherwise enjoy your first drive.

GAP insurance from ALA is cheaper still if you go through the link on moneysavingexpert website
Thanks all for the advice so far. I’ve looked into GAP using ALA and using the MSE code, it’s a great deal so will go for that. Also found alloy wheel cover at half the price of the dealer should I need it so thanks for pointing me in that direction.
I’ve also found multi car insurance for both my Volvo and the Jag for only a little more than my insurance wanted at renewal for the Volvo alone so lots of nice surprises.
