Not sure why they're saying it could be the end of the manual - I think that's been discontinued for some time already. US owners appear to have experienced lots of clutch failures, which is probably the reason - too much warranty and redesign work.

Anyway, I'm hanging on to my V8R AWD forever!

Hi Blueone, why do you think the newer one will be better, apart from efficiency? I have a deposit down on a V6 P380 for delivery at the beginning of next year. Should I wait for the inline 6? Would appreciate your (or any forum member) thoughts. My gut is to ensure I get the V6 mainly because of the theatre of it, I suspect the inline 6 will be very muted in comparison.

It depends what you want. If you want the latest model with new technology and something that will hold its value longer then definitely hold off. If it’s about having probably the last ever fully petrol V6 Jaguar make then go for it. I’ve gone for the 340 so it’s not the full V6 experience which makes me feel I should have waited seeing this news.

I’m just a bit annoyed to be dropping £65k on a car and it be an out of date model within a year. Have saved years for this and it will be ‘the old model’ before I know it!

Plus, with the speculation lately that due to stricter controls over emissions etc. Jaguar will not be able to use the current supercharged V8 and are apparently in talks with BMW over sourcing a 4.4 litre twin turbo V8. Oh, and the next F-Type being a 2+2...

If the above is true then I'll not be buying one and will keep my R AWD.

My car will be a keeper so not too bothered about depreciation. I do like new tech but over the years I find that most of it is quickly forgotten after playing with it for a while. For me it is about having a car that makes me smile and feel good when driving it - if the new one is faster or more efficient I couldn’t care less. If the new car is more fun to drive and has more character or theatre then I’m interested. Sadly I will have to make the call before that is known! Expecting to stick with the V6.

They only introduce new/facelifted models to make existing customers want to trade up. There is only a limited demand for such specialist cars.

I find this turn of events at odds with the recently reported loss from Jaguar.
If the company was in such dire straits, why make such a massive (and costly) overhaul to the model category that's probably the least lucrative (sports cars dono't sell well due to their inherent impracticality).

Same question.

My take is that the reason I (or we if I can speak for all) buys an F Type is precisely due to the engine.
Some want the sound and practicality of the V6, whereas some of us want the roar and theater of the V8.

What good is an electric F Type !
