A couple of weeks ago I had to drive down the M6 and M5 for about 280 miles on a busy Friday morning. Traffic was as expected so I didn't have much chance of stretching her legs. In fact, there were so many 50mph roadworks, it was a real ball ache driving.
So I stopped at Strensham services and just thought I'd check my mpg. Had to take a pic as I didn't really believe it. The engine was still running so the figure dropped a few seconds after I'd taken the pic. Bit different from the 14-15 mpg I get when I'm having fun!

Yep

I can get around 33-34 MPG out of a SVR on the motorway when doing a pretty consistent 65-70 MPH

But round town on short trips i'm averaging 16-17 mpg

I keep a spreadsheet of everything I have spent on the car and a mpg check (okay very OCD).
In the 5,788 miles since I bought the car my overall average is 30.02.
I think that is pretty damm good for a 380 BHP car.

I used to play in my old 3.0 diesel XFS
60, 60, 60 on the M40 to hit average 60 mpg over 60 miles at average 60 mph
Not difficult even on the old six speed box, but so boring.
Btw no cruise control as ruined it in minutes

Just checking on my "Fuelly" site shows that over the 16870 my V6S has been driven she has achieved an average of 27.8 miles per gallon.
Probably two thirds being on local fast twisty fun roads the rest dual carriageway.
