Hi all
Just wondering if you can buy a front number plate holder that fits for 5 character/ digit numbers.
The full size version, ie standard, looks a bit naff with a smaller character set.

I guess I can chop a section out of the standard version, but when I sell the car??

Any suggestions? What have others done?

Others have chopped a bit out of the middle, there's a long thread somewhere on here about it.

Found it! viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1330&hilit=number+plate+plinth

Hi Roger

I took the plate holder off and stuck my short 5 digit plate onto the bar bit. It just covers the holes.

Got my local garage to do it. They cut and rejoined/plastic welded the backing plate, filled the old holes, and resprayed the horizontal bar. I checked out the UK Gov number plate regulations, and they cut the plate to size. I think they did a great job, and you can’t see the join. And I’m sure it’s legal.

Thanks all for all of the threads and pictures.
Roll on the weekend and I can marry up V6OOM with the SVR.....and yes I know the SVR is a V8...but I’ve had this plate on Audi S3, M Coupe, 2 x GT3s and an XK RS.

It will look amazing!

Done without backplate. Soon to be removed completely when my project 7 grill is ready.

No backing plate for me either but mine is just stuck on. My plate is 330mm x 111mm. Same size on the rear.

Hi again
So what did you use to stick the plates on with?
The normal number plate stick in strips, double sided stuff?

Hi Roger, I used 2 strips of number plate tape both the full width of the plate.

Heavy duty velcro for the win. You can get it in Halfords for about £3.
