With other, more 'sensible' (or German) purchases, prices reach a market value based on more consistent logical factors and so the prices become more consistent. I knew that I was going to 'lose' a fortune buying a brand new SVR, but I did not care and did not perceive it as a loss, but more as a justification of my real desire to own the car. I suspect the smart dealers with quality Fs know that the right buyer will come along and will only discount when desperate!
I understand your point of view but I think at this price point when you get to these types of cars it is always an emotional purchase and even with that being said I am not sure how a spread of 20k on a 65k car is possible.
10k I could maybe understand at a main dealer to some extend.
These cars are just sitting around for more than 5-6 months.

Cars, like most things, are only worth what someone's prepared to pay for them. If cars are overpriced they'll (eventually) be reduced, you just have to hang on and hope nobody comes along with a higher opinion of worth. ;)

I just bought used - they would give me 1k off IF I took their 9.9 APR pcp / hp but nothing off if I financed it myself or cash 🤷‍♂️

Not to worry ....... I got 2 years dealer warranty on the Mclaren so it’s swings and roundabouts it’s really about the cost to swop as that’s the bit that matters.
