From what I’ve read you have two options, a tuning box or remapping the ECU.
It would appear that while tuning boxes can be safe, the safest way to perform any tuning on your car is by logging the vehicle data and a Custom Remap by a professional. Without instrumenting additional sensors it is impossible to even know what the true values of some sensors are, as the tuning box adjusts the data to the ECU.
The original YouTube clip I posted may have been an advert but it looks like a good description of the two options.

I think the whole point to you guys & gals is, you spend a fortune on one of the best cars in the world & then want to spend a pittance on a plug in box of unknown quantity. Surely the whole excitement of the exercise is to go to someone like David Appleby or other with a rolling road & you can see what your car has power wise before & after. Yes it is more expensive but so what. Do it.
