I ordered my F Type a week before they closed the books on the outgoing model. Delivery expected in March 2020. I have been waiting to see if I made a mistake and would need to cancel my order and place another one for the new model. Having driven all variants of the F Type except the SVR I liked the P380 V6 the most.

I don't mind the design of the new model too much but the back hasn't really changed that much, the sides not at all and the front just looks a little 'squashed' to me, but if I had never seen any F Type I would probably like it overall.

The lack of a V6 though seems a very strange decision and is probably something to do with the contract with the Ford engine plant I guess. It's a definite turn off for me and although I like tech stuff the digital dash looks like they had reflection problems or something during testing so stuck a huge binnacle over the top of it, doesn't look like it's part of the car.

So I am very glad I got my order in on time! Still waiting for delivery of course but it's been a 3 year wait so far and I can now see the [very nice looking] lights at the end of the tunnel.

Its the engine line up that confuses me and how that affects my v6 used price.
I'm still amazed that after 10 years of car manufacturers down sizing engines, Jaguar decide to drop the middle of the range 3L V6 and put in a larger and less efficient de-tuned 5L V8. Quite bizarre when they dropped the previous lower output V8 "S" 488bhp in 2016.

Q&A: Alan Volkaerts, vehicle line director,
Why have you dropped the V6 F-Type?
The decision not to offer the V6 in the UK and Europe follows a sales review showing demand is by far the heaviest for the four-cylinder engine

*SimpleR Not in Association with Jaguar Response*
- Twice as many V6 on the road than 2L and 5L combined! Where do they get "sales review" data from! Certainly not the DVLA!
- 2L all variants - 1,381
- 3L all variants (inc 400 sports, etc) - 8,267
- 5L all variants (inc original S, SVR, project 7 etc) - 2,252

Why didn’t you use the new Ingenium straight six?
“It’s a simple question of packaging. With demand for the four-cylinder so strong, we simply couldn’t justify the significant investment needed.”

*SimpleR Not in Association with Jaguar Response*
- It does not quite fit without a lot of work or does not fit at all, doh!
- Do you know how much we spent on the those headlights and bonnet?
- We have a lot of V8 engines around to get rid of before the BMW 4.4L arrives
The 3L has been available from 2013 but the 2L is only from 2017? If you look at sales since the 2L was introduced does the picture change in line with JLR comments?

Several sources seem to suggest the V6 will still be available in North America ?

I think your/our V6s will be more desirable.
Mines a keeper anyway, and I prefer the original looks and the far better soundtrack.

@simpleR.
You're in the UK or USA ?
On the continent the Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal , Norway, Denmark and probably some others,
base registration is taxed on the CO2 output of the car.

In the Netherlands :

---------------------------------------------------------------CO2 tax ----------------------VAT----------------------------total
P300 -------= 179 g/km--------------------------------€ 21.228-------------------€ 10.722--------------------€ 84.200
P340 -------= 234 g/km [manual]----------------- € 44.823-------------------€ 12.310--------------------€ 116.950
P380AWD-= 233 g/km [auto]----------------------€ 44.493-------------------€ 16.623--------------------€ 139.660
P575AWD-= 249 g/km [SVR]-----------------------€ 51.285-------------------€ 25.201---------------------€ 197.660

A P400e hybrid/petrol PHEV would be :------------€ 450 ------------------€ 20.000 , but with a higher base price.

Bottomline the P400e will be as powerfull as a P380AWD at a price around € 140.000,- I guess...

More expensive then the P380AWD .. .. so even CO2 taxation is no reason....

I quite liked Rory Reid's review. But the old 2015/16 is still the deign that does it for me.
did they elect not bring out an SVR due to the upper power output of the new V8.
Any idea if the new V8 is still the same power unit as the old one ?
