From the front the new F looks like a squashed XE, shouldn’t the flagship performance model of any marque stand out of the crowd and be individual? Who says we have to follow a genre! Did the E Type? Dare I say it Jag would seem to be going along the Audi ethos, ill even go so far to say it actually looks like an R8 from a glance of the front ! Good look with the new F Jag, I do feel the older model with a few subtle updates could have lasted the test of time! Look how long the XJS stayed popular and remained in production for! Bring back Mr Callum.
I actually quite like the new design but cant say for sure until I see it in the flesh.

Jaguar are a car manufacturer who's main objective is to sell cars and make profit. To the best of my knowledge Audi sell more cars and make more profit so from a Jaguar point of view it would absolutely make sense to follow the " Audi ethos ".

Well, considering that Jaguar was the criminals' car of choice back in the day, it would seem that Audi is actually following Jaguar in that respect! :D

The big difference is that in the old days crooks stole the Jaguars, now they lease the audi's .. ;)

When the facelift XF arrived, it was a milder more streamlined look. I preferred the original. For a year or so, then the old one started to look dated. I guess the same will apply to the Ftype.

And how does that compare with the overall market?

Sales bound to drop off as release of update approaches. V6 still top seller and that was without knowledge that it was about to be dropped in the UK market !

@ Jaguarndy.

The old XF also looks dated to my eyes. That said, the original F Type with the shark fin front spoiler DOES NOT look dated to me - I in fact prefer it.
It's like the E Type or Ferrari Testarossa or 308 GTS or Lamboghini Murchilago.

One cannot look at these and say "dated".
