I decided to give these a try and in a moment of madness have tried to capture the installation in pictures. It took me about 10 mins including getting the towels down to stop me getting damp.

My car is a 2019 edition (one before the recent face lift)

Equipment:
One small Christmas cracker flathead screwdriver for removing the old light
Set of lights from the link above
Note the kit mentions it has an upholstery tool. It doesn't but its not required.

Method:
Christmas cracker screwdriver used to get existing light out. Its not screwed just a leaver to remove the existing fitting. There is a small indent to allow you to do this a the end nearest back of the car.

Unplug cable and attach new light.

Tricky bit: When you go to put the light back in it feels like it doesn't fit and is snagging on something inside. As above I found this to be a small lug on the entrance which I took a picture of. The standard fitting has a notch in to avoid this but this part does not.

In order to get past this without having to alter anything I found it best to insert vertically so it pushes slightly past this notch then back and into place. It is very tight so a bit of bravery is required at this point to lock it in but it does go without the need for alteration or damage.

I am very pleased with the result pic is casting on the door as it was still light when I was fitting them.

More than likely you were supplied the wrong ones. First set from eBay I bought had me trying every which way before realising they simply didn't fit. Returned them and bought from a different seller and they slotted straight in.
I suspect this is your issue, sorry don't have the link.
