Rubber dots attached to window glass

Does anyone have these rubber dots attached to the rear quarter panel window glass (lower front corner)? There is one on each side of my car.

If so, do you know what their purpose is?

The explanations I have had in the past are:

(a) Someone went on a Jaguar factory tour and asked an employee on the production line what the rubber dots are for. Apparently the dots are there if the door is out of line and is used to stop the glass from getting marked. They can be removed if not picked up by the Pre-Delivery Inspection.

(b) They are positioned there to prevent wind whistle around that area i.e. rubber door seal, window glass, etc.

I think they are from the production line, as the doors are initially on the car and then removed and put back later in the process. The rubber dots stayed on mine for a couple of years until I removed them. Makes no difference really.

None on mine, sounds like someone forgot to remove yours at PDI. Ugly, aren't they?

Got them on my MY18 (facelift), didn't have them on my MY17 (pre facelift)!

Think I’ll leave them where they are for now just in case. They do seem to match the curvature in the rubber door seal just in front of them.

The rubber dots are hardly noticeable (even more so with a dab of back to black etc) but the photo is a close up so it makes them look worse than they actually are.

They are a listening bug. Remove them or be very careful what you say.
