The problem is that even though you take your car to a dealership for servicing / brakes etc. There is a chance that an apprentice may be doing the work as the more experienced staff should be on more technical jobs.
Fortunately at Matford Exeter I have met the experienced technician who services mine.
I do agree in general though with you, but guess we are getting off the OP's subject matter and Phil will be along soon to wrap our knuckles

So if you want your car looked after by a Jag dealer go for their warranty but if you are prepared to use a specialist or another garage that you trust ,either put some money away into an account each month or have a credit card for major repairs.

Insurance is what it says on the tin - In case of a major problem you have peace of mind about the future expense of repair.
My 23000 mile F type JLR 3 year guarantee and included service costs plan ran out last November, so for peace of mind purchased the JLR Extended Guarantee and Service Plan ( Paying Monthly at no extra cost) all of which can be passed on should I decide to sell later.
Expensive - perhaps - but who knows?

I think the jaguar warranties are good value. Cheapest comprehensive I can get for my low mileage 3 year old BMW M4 is £1200 PA with no excess. I’m buying with a £250 excess and it’s still £900.

Heck, my old M3 BMW warranty was in the £300s and as previously said the wife's M135i is only £280

I have just bought a 50k V8R, condition is superb, but due to mileage I took an extra year for £850 giving 2 years in total. I can now drive it with confidence that any big breakdown bills are not mine.
PS: Has just been transported to dealer for injector failure. Pleased I got it.

Hi All,
Over on the XE forum there is the option to buy an ALA warranty which is RAC cover with an extra 5% off.
https://www.xeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... 582#p96566
I have ALA gap insurance so I've just quoted the full platinum plus package for 3 years with full RAC breakdown for 3 years and it comes back as £1,197. This equates to £399 a year with breakdown (compared to just Jaguar extended cover of £789 per year with no breakdown).
For £1.09p a day for full cover for the car and breakdown included I think I will be purchasing this come May when car is 3yrs old.
