Costs: Evening All, My 400 sport AWD has gone in for its second service today and whilst there I enquired about changing Diff Oil due to the discussions on failures. The good news, is the dealer had not had to replace any however would check the seals for any sign of leaks. The quote to change the oil for the two diffs and the tranfer box came to £427.37 inc vat. That is broken down:
Front: drain plug £2.76, filler plug £2.29, oil £32.53 labour £76.80
Rear: drain plug £2.29, filler plug £14.34, oil £32.53 labour £38.40
Tranfer box: plug £7.04 Oil £120.98 labour £96.00
As the car is still under warranty the dealer advised not to worry as if it goes wrong in the next year Jaguar will cover the costs to repair. Once out of warranty will consider making a routine every three years due to low mileage use.
Thanks for that, fairly reasonable for the rear diff. I think I'll do mine in June just in case.

Well spotted! I should have double-checked when I stole the information ... ;

I infer from the 3 different fill levels there are 3 different diff models.
Do they all suffer problems or is there one in particular that gives problems?

The conventional diff found on the V6 340 PS F-Type is fine.
It appears from what I'm seeing on the US and UK forums, that the electronic diffs (eDiff) found on the 360PS and V8 models that have an electronic motor to control the amount of 'silp' via a set of clutch plates suffer.
So far it seems that contamination from the plates is spoiling the oil a lot earlier than JLR had initially envisaged going on their maintenance routine.

Thanks Tel,
Is the weeping seal problem across all diffs, or again just with one of two of the types?
Does the weeping seal problem contribute to those that have problems or is it in effect a completely separate issue?
