mines back into the garage after having the rear diff replaced a few months back
sounds to me like the exact same noise coming from the car
they replaced wheel bearing this time - but that it didn't fix it. still in the garage now... :/
Jaguar F-Type differential failures - Input needed.
My 2016 v6s has just had it's 4 year / 64000-mile service by Hatfields of Shrewsbury. The car has done 25500 miles. At about 18000 miles whilst still under guarantee the car started making a rumbling noise when turning a sharp corner at slow speed,Hatfields tested it and initially said nothing wrong, but on my insistence with the Service manager agreed that noise was not usual, result diff oil changed and filled up, apparently, the level was low. At this Service I asked them to check if the oil level was ok, they advised that they had but I do wonder if there is a dipstick or level gauge as I have my doubts that the check was actually made.
I had thought that they would just drain it and refill it with the correct amount of oil.
Anyone with actual knowledge of how the check should be made?

I would be careful using that method unless verified.
It was something like 815-835ml tolerance for a refill on mine (other versions may vary) - although with it being difficult to access I didn’t try to check where that came to, relative to the fill plug.

I have now spoken with the Workshop Manager rather than the Service Manager at Hatfields, Shrewsbury.
Apparently, to check the level of oil in the differential they drained the oil, measured it as ok and then put the OLD OIL BACK IN.
I expressed my amazement that they did not refill with NEW OIL, even if they had charged extra for new oil as apparently checking the rear differential oil at 4 years / 64,000-mile service is not part of Jaguar's service requirement

That's true, according to the service schedules for my AWD the rear locking diff oil should be changed, not checked, every 4 years. Transfer box every 3 years, front diff every 9 years.
