The 4yr or 64000 mile oil change on rear diff can only have been a misjudgement by Jaguar as they need doing a lot more frequently.

Here is mine.

Got any pictures of the oil?
And why are they replacing it? Internal damage?

I've had two diff's replaced in three years and 20k miles. Worryingly I think a new diff is required again as after six months the diff is making the same noise as the previous ones, at 5mph it makes a low frequency relatively loud grinding/rubbing noise when turning left or right and the noise is getting significantly worse. It was at the dealer again four weeks ago and Jaguar warranty refused to replace the diff again stating the noise in normal.

The rationale the gave is that when the diff if new there is no noise with new oil but once the oil wears down and becomes contaminated the diffs make a noise this is normal according to Jaguar's area technical specialist.

I've had a lot of cars in my 40 years of driving, I also started my working life as a motor mechanic/technician and this is a new one on me.

Maybe they're are going into denial regarding the build quality of their diff's and only when they disintegrate into pieces will they now replace them,

Jaguar and Aston Martin are using the same rear diffs. An my source acknowledged both makes are experiencing the problem with diffs. It will not belong before independent works out how to improve diff life.

My 69 plate R-Dynamic AWD with 8200 miles went into Harwoods Basingstoke today, just two weeks after purchasing from Hendy Southampton (Jaguar Approved). Just received a call that an oil change has resolved the problem ...... have registered my concern with the Jaguar Experience Centre on why this was picked up in the "comprehensive inspection", the low mileage of the car and with one year left on the warranty my concern on the validity of just changing the oil. Let's see how it goes ....... this is another OV registration so ex-Jaguar Fleet.

Harwoods Basingstoke didn't spot the faulty door module that stopped the door handle button opening from working when I went to pick the car up. The sales guy always opened it with the fob, but I'd got used to the door button method after 5 years with my XKR. They fixed it promptly, though. Mine is also an OV, but only had 1300 miles on it after a year of "use".

I have 2014, 34,000 miles V6. Getting a vibration through the steering wheel when turning left only from 10-15mph upwards. It’s been in for checks of suspension, wheels etc and nothing found. Does this sound like the diff going?

I’m booked in for wheel balancing, alignment and rear diff oil change to see if that sorts it - hopefully a more simple fix than anything more serious.

Not unexpectedly the noise has already reappeared, slow left hand tight turns. Pretty sure it will get worse and have already reported back to Hendy Southampton that it needs to be resolved. Sigh .........

The noise on mine is getting progressively worse too but Jaguar won’t change the diff under the extended warranty they say the noise is normal so I’ll have to live with it until it fails 🙁😡

I decided to exercise the 30 day return policy, sadly no longer an F-Type owner but looking already.
