Jaguar F-Type differential failures - Input needed.
It is good practice to change the plug washers. For the sake of a couple of quid it gives peace of mind. Your spark plugs could go on for years but suspect you change them when recommended to do so... Best way to look after your car is not to take short cuts just to save a couple of quid.

Perhaps it is only for some cars. My Vin ends in K44744
Strange how the Jaguar 64,000 miles / 48 months service schedule doesn’t show “Renew rear locking differential oil (if fitted)” for your car?
Do any of your Jaguar service schedules (up to and including 160,000 miles / 120 months) show this?
Captainham was also the same until he checked again on the Jaguar link I provided https://osh.jaguar.com/ after which it showed that his vehicle did need this service requirement.
We both have the MY 2016 V6 S whereas you have the MY 2017 V6 S, but I don't see why the diff oil change isn't on your service schedule?

I have checked again, see Vin SAJAC61B9H8K44744 just to make sure and no miraculous appearance!
When I do read exactly what work is done for the Service it makes me wonder if it what might be called "value for money".
In any event, as I have already had problems with the diff making noises due to low oil levels I will get it done at the next / 4 year Service anyway
At this rate of lockdown, I will have done less than 1000 miles between services and mots

So miracles do happen then!
You mention that you’ve already had problems with the diff making noises due to low oil levels.........have you checked the pinion seal etc to ensure nothing is leaking?
It’s a good idea to change the diff oil more frequently than Jaguar stipulates........this should help to prevent any issues.

There is/are no leaks so far.
The grinding noise on a sharp turn, say junction, started at 18,000 miles...after some insistence with the Service Manager at Hatfields of Shrewsbury, the car diff was found to be short of oil. Once filled to correct level noise disappeared. I insisted that the problem be registered with Jaguar as the 3-year guarantee was ending soon. The car has now done nearly 29,000 miles and no sign of a leak.
I am still amazed that the service interval on this item is at 144,000 miles

Having just been sorting through some paper work found my service plan letter from Jaguar it states that the tranfer box oil will be changed in year 3 result , and I will pay for the 2 diff to be done at the same time.

I'm not sure where 144,000 miles come from...is this for a 2L engined F?
For our V8R the first oil change on the LOCKING diff is scheduled at the 64,000/48 month service. This is fine for a conventional non locking diff, but as I have said before, I believe, due to the failures that are being reported this is totally incorrect for LOCKING diffs. Personally after analysis of our oil after 15k will give me a benchmark as to frequency.
Our car is at 15k miles, it will have the oil dropped form the ediff and sent of of analysis as soon as the COVID virus allows.

The 144,000 mile / 9 years came from the Service Schedule for my 3.0l V6S Coupe.
I input my VIN SAJAC61B9H8K44744 and waded through every Service Schedule and the "change diff oil" only came up, much to my amazement, at 144,000 miles / 9th year.
By that time I will be some 80 years of age - so will not worry too much.
I will be having it done anyway this year at its fourth service regardless and an analysis of the oil.
I too checked my 3 year Service Plan and there is no mention of the Oil change.

Which would be a reasonable schedule IF you have a conventional differential and NOT a NON LOCKING LIMITED SLIP or E DIFF.01286p wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:39 pm The 144,000 mile / 9 years came from the Service Schedule for my 3.0l V6S Coupe.

FWIW - During my 64K service for which I paid for a 5 year service plan, my dealer, that I trust implicitly, managed to miss changing the diff oil !!!!
