My V6 has noticeable sulphur smell when I drive it hard; sign of damaged cat converter or normal fuel burn off?

Anybody else had same?

Cheers

Before or after you had it mapped to 400bhp without the super charger pulley upgrade?

I'd presume Catalytic Converter related to the map and/or from too much fuel/running too hot.

Hi simpleR.

Re. your comment I’ve been contemplating having the DAE map on its own in August when my insurance renews.

What is the issue you allude to?

Would it not be the same fuelling into the standard cats as a 400 Sport?

In the same situation I’d take it back to them to look at first, as it is an issue under their warranty on the product.

Edit:
Just seen it was on my own topic

It wasn’t DAE, some local company.
I won’t mention my opinion on no insurance!
Looks like DaddyDarren had map and sports cats done.
Be great to have a new thread with an update on how it is now.

That is a good sign that your cats are cleaning themselves as they are getting up to temperature.

My aim has always been to get them as hot as possible to keep them clean, thus the smell becomes hardly noticeable thereafter.

Drive it for 5 minutes at 3500rpm, that'll get them hot!

Thanks Tel, I don’t floor it often and my commute is only few miles a day so makes sense it’s cleaning itself out. Noticed it few years ago also only when drive it hard.

simple R, can’t see what it has to do with remap and the pulley is only required on stage 2 remap I’ve had stage 1.
