The main screen and vent controls drop out intermittently, sometimes for a minute or so sometimes for longer, seems no logic to the timing. I loose all main screen functions, the screen goes blank, along with the vent controls, sometimes flashing before going blank. They then return at some undefined time sometimes some of the controls and sometimes all.
An independent jag specialist advised it might need a software update. This has been done and the fault is still there
I have taken out the main screen and vent controls, checked connections and wiggled connections to see if the fault can be replicated -no luck
I have done the same with the boot fuse box and passenger fuse box
Once the system failed when at home so I checked the voltage on the boot fuse box and got nothing. Before I could do anymore checks the system came back on again. Dont know what feeds the boot fuse box as I dont have wiring diagrams
At no point have any fuses blown
At a loss now as the specialist (fair play to them) said it is not worth them trying to find the fault if it is not there I would just be burning cash. I (my missus) did a video of the fault whilst driving which they viewed.
So I have to wait until if fails completely

Any advice would be appreciated

For info, Found some useful info on the f-type x152 on cardiagn.com. This has lots of very detailed info on the f type and how to diagnose faults and take apart most things. So useful for a whole host of things on the f-type if you want detailed info
No wiring diagrams though

I suspect it may be as simple as a new battery or the battery earth in the boot.
However here is a link to the complete repair manual...

Use the revised second link in the initial thread, it is a very large document!

+1 for checking the battery, at 5 years old it may be getting tired. Have you tried giving it a good charge? Though I'd expect the specialist to have checked that anyway, so maybe it's more complicated.

I love these kind of issues...

If you found no feed onto the busbar, and then it came back, chances are it is a voltage feed problem.

Sounds like you are handy with a DVM and diags - Get yourself a copy of the cct diagrams from TopiX and have a sniff round.
It will be something daft, loose feed. It's going to take some wiggling with help. Could be a connection within the main loom that feeds the dash area or the main voltage feed controlling the module via the fuse.

I have the manual for the V8's but don't want to send you up the garden path with differing versions of diagrams.

Thanks for the replies chaps, and like one of you has said I do like these faults but more so when you have finally resolved them. A chap on the club forum has posted me a reply having had the same problem fixed under warranty - dodgy pc connection was his words?. So following up to see if I can find out exactly which part was changed.
Incidentally check battery and earths etc - all good

Did try has customer relation in the hope they would send my video round the dealerships asking who had experience of this fault but they are as much good as a box of chocolates in a heat wave. They just got my local dealer to call me who has already said he can’t do anything unless the fault is there and that they have not see this fault before
More later and hopefully conclude the story with a detailed fix which may benefit others in the future

I had the same problem.
Reported to JLR and they also suspected the battery which did log a low power fault. The car shuts things off.

Did you change the battery and did that solve the problem?
Thing I would find strange is that the fault sometimes does not come up until an hour or so of driving by which time the battery should be fully charged. Also recently I have had the roof up and down a lot (good weather) which is a battery drain and that works fine. My battery is now 4 years old and it was checked recently when the software update was carried out
