When you start to list them all out there are now a plethora of different F-Type versions and build combinations.

Other than the body and build, JLR buy in the majority of components from suppliers and some of these will not have survived the halt in production. Then there is the end of the JLR spec. V6 production agreement with Ford to factor in too.

With the model only just breaking 7 years old is it too soon to have concerns about getting hold of spare parts before too long ?

I've been waiting on a plastic headlight bracket for my car and despite general production levels ramping back up there is still no information on it.
There was a recent post regarding a roof motor too, where delivery "could be months".

Fingers crossed this is just slow progress and we needn't be concerned that an errant driver's bump into your beloved car will put it off the road for months, waiting for that last widget to become available - or scavenged from a salvaged car.

One downside to "just in time" manufacturing - few spares in the supply chain?

Like most mass produced cars, the market for parts should be big enough and profitable enough to support supply for quite some time. It's only long after there are hardly any of a particular model on the road that it can become more difficult, oddly enough for more generic cars.

My neighbour is doing up a triumph herald. Some of the body panels are silly money, beacause it's not one of the more collectable classics and items are hand made. Whereas other classics warrant setting up body presses and tooling for greater volumes.

The longest I had to wait was for a measly wiper arm on a Peugeot 406 coupe, which took 4 weeks to come from France. Could be worse. A while back I was reading of Tesla's sitting in body shops waiting 9 months for parts. Gulp.

On the other side, I had new exhaust back box the other week under warranty as the flaps have seized. Ordered and arrived next day. I guess common parts are stock items.

The V6 is still in production, just not for Europe and some other markets so spares should remain available for some time I would hope.

alot of issues at the moment with suppliers going bust so 'stock parts' (of which there arent many) are ok but anything on back order could be significantly longer than normal

I think it’s a more widespread issue, made worse by COVID. My son has been waiting over a year for a plastic headlamp bracket for a 2018 VW Polo....

I recall from previous XK threads that certain specialist parts (eg diff for higher spec later cars) were tricky to get hold of even for cars under Jaguar used warranty. Bit of a pain for a critical part like that, at least with some brackets etc we can generally make some sort of fix.

There would also be scrap/donor vehicles to consider for parts as well so I wouldn’t be overly concerned.

It's not just car parts that are delayed of course. A little £4 special battery I ordered from China was despatched in March, just delivered last week.
